PRESS RELEASE FROM DEVON COUNTY ANTIQUES FAIRS LTD
The ever popular Matford Antiques & Collectors Fair will be making an unexpected but welcome appearance in the historical City of Exeter, on the Marsh Barton Trading Estate, on Saturday 26th April. This fair is to replace the previously Advertised “Devon Collectors Festival” which was to be held at Westpoint on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th April. This new event has been re-branded and will now be known as ConTrad Expo with the first event being held on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th August 2008.
One regular Exhibitor is Chapel
Antiques from Exeter on Stand M08 and as usual will have a wonderful
array of Exeter Silver on display. One such item is a
rare West Country George I Sugar Caster, of
plain baluster form with pierced detachable cover Another regular exhibitor is Murray’s Antiques & Collectables from Dorset, who can be found on Stand M03. One of the items on this stand is a very rare Baby Cham car /lorry mascot. It dates from the early 1950s and each of the companies delivery E.R.F.lorries had one fitted to the top of the radiator.It is in an excellent condition and is priced at £475.00There will also be a rare circa 1905-10 period brass Fire Brigade Cigars advertising ashtray priced at £120.00 Another rare item on this stand is a rare Arcadian china black boy series novelty cigarette holder circa 1920s period priced at £190.00c. You will also find an Arcadian crested china vase with a circa 1919 R.F.C.(Royal Flying Corps) crest priced at £120.00. If porcelain is for you then this Shelley made oval Mabel Lucie Attwell Lawley retailer marked Babies Bowl priced at £120.00
This fair will also see the return of Past and Present, from Cornwall who will be attending the Matford Centre fair on Stand G11,for the first time since 2003.As always you will find items of interest, he first is a set of six silver buttons, in their original box. They are hallmarked Birmingham 1899.price £180.00..The second is a Tortoise-shell and silver desk paper clip. The silver is in the shape of the letter A. which is hallmarked Birmingham1905.size is 2.x 2.1/4 inches the price £40.00.
If you are thinking about your garden then you must visit stand A04. Paraphernalia of Ivybridge will have some wonderful Vintage Garden ornaments decorating their stand, amongst these ornaments will be an extremely heavy cast iron Chimenea priced at £65, a large heron and chick priced at £65 and two Chimney Pots which are £25 & £35. They will also have a Victorian paraffin lamp priced at £75 and a very rare pair of large hall lanterns priced at £150 for the pair.
Early entry at 9am to 10am has proved to be very beneficial to collectors and dealers alike, proving that to a dedicated collector, who has sometimes traveled down overnight, the £4 entry price is no barrier where a special piece is concerned. From 10am to 4.30pm the entry is only £3 and children are admitted free at all times.
With up to 230 inside stands and space available for up to 250 outside & undercover pitches, the Antiques & Collectors Fairs at Matford are hugely popular with both Trade & Public and standholders regularly attend from all parts of the South West & UK. With inside & outside pitches these fairs offer an amazing range of stock from quality Antiques dating from 1700 to every kind of collectable & furniture up to the late 1990’s- all at very affordable prices. Knowledgeable buyers always report some “real finds” on both inside & outside stands.
Visitors to the Matford Centre Fair have the added benefit of excellent catering and a licensed bar, ample free parking & good disabled access.
